Curly as I call him, is my American Bashkir Curly, I imported him from USA in june 2005 as my asthma had got so bad i thought i must see if i could work with a curly horse, yes, it really is true, i can brush him and ride him and have no ill effects from it.

Curly is registered with the ABC register in USA, he is also registered and graded with CHAPS UK.

Curly is a super mover with a lovely jump,as all curly's he is very short and compact and has the easiest most sensible temperament.

Curly has been hunting many times this season, and has jumped everything that i asked, including big 4'3" hedges, some with ditches on one side or the other, in some cases he was braver than me.

Ok, so lets talk genetics my favorite subject, Painted dunn deal is a dunskin tobiano curly, this means that he carries the dun gene, cream gene tobiano gene and the curly gene, the cream gene is what produces buckskins and palominos.
'Curly' has a 50% chance of producing a dun, 50% palomino/buckskin, 50% coloured (tobiano) and 50% chance of the coat being curly.
Now i will change the odds to 25% by mixing the genes for example you would have a 25% chance of getting a palomino coloured or a palomino curly or any of the above combinations.
I will stop there i am sure that by now you have got the idea and i don't want to blow your mind.

Stud fee: £350.NFFR.

Dominant gene Curly Horses come in all sizes, colors, body types & disciplines. The distinctly calm temperament, substantive bone & durability are the traits most prized among breeders. The fact that they are hypoallergenic is an added bonus.
Curly Horses are one of the most mysterious & best kept secrets of the equine world. Curly coated horses are hypoallergenic for those who suffer from allergies to other horses. Dominant gene Curly Horses also produce smooth-coated individuals, many of which interestingly retain the hypoallergenic characteristic of their curly-coated parents.
Horse lovers who are allergic to other breeds are discovering they can cross their favorite mare to a homozygous Curly stallion for a registered foal sure to serve any purpose or specialized discipline.
